It was all-Oakland Tuesday night in Drain as the Oakers rolled past North Douglas 67-33.
“They’re a pretty good team. We couldn’t get a shot to fall tonight, though. But they are a good team for sure,” said Warriors head coach Tyler Vancil.
The Oakers (5-1), currently ranked in the top-10 at the 2A classification, used a balanced scoring attack to build an early lead they never looked back from. The Warriors (6-2)scored their first basket of the game with 1:10 left in the first quarter and at the completion of the quarter, the Oakers led 14-3 and continued to surge as they found themselves up 38-11 at halftime.
A third quarter 10-3 run for the Warriors cut the lead to 22 points. The Oakers were not done and in the closing minutes of the game hit three pointers on three straight possessions.
Jake Gerrard and Koldan Frieze each scored 10 points for North Douglas.
“This loss doesn’t matter, it’s not league. League’s what matters. We take this loss and build off of it and we come to practice tomorrow and practice hard for our next game,” said Vancil.
