Geneva I. (Garrett) Birlem, 84, of Cottage Grove died July 17, 2012 from age related causes.
She was born Aug. 20, 1927 in Duncan, Okla. to Albert and Beatrice (Pollack) Garrett.
In 1944, she married Lee Lewis Remiro, who died Feb. 14, 1962. She and Charles F. Birlem were married on May 6, 1963 in Reno, Nevada. He died in 1991.
Geneva was a butcherette during WWII, drove a school bus in California and was a professional driver of motor coaches, delivering them to customers.
She enjoyed bowling and was an artist who painted and did drawings. She was religious, had spiritual faith and was a member of the Yoncalla Assembly of God.
Geneva formerly had lived in Watsonville, Calif.
She is survived by a son, Dale Remiro and wife, Jeanne, of Eugene, a son-in-law, Richard Beard, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both husbands and by a daughter, Linda Beard.
A memorial will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at 3 p.m. at the Yoncalla Assembly of God.
