Providing the 'scaffolding' for strong families

For the first time, on May 6, the Cottage Grove Armory will be the site of the Family Relief Nursery’s annual “Sigh of Relief” luncheon. The added space was needed to accommodate all those interested in supporting the Nursery. In conjunction with the event, the FRN will be celebrating its 20th year serving Cottage Grove families.

The Nursery was birthed out of two tragic unrelated child abuse cases in the spring of 1991.

“In response to the child abuse a good cross-section of our community came together, formed a board, wrote some grants and received federal assistance,” said FRN Executive Director Heather Murphy, who served on the organization’s first board in 1994.
