Cottage Grove City Manager Richard Meyers said a “nice long chat” with Sean Kelly last week preceded Meyers’ decision to reinstate Kelly as the City’s attorney and the prosecutor of its municipal court.
Kelly, who also heads a law firm in Cottage Grove, served as its city attorney for a number of years prior to his arrest Jan. 2 of this year on a charge of fourth-degree assault stemming from an alleged incident involving a 40-year old female the previous day. The City passed off Kelly’s case to the Oregon State Police and later suspended Kelly from his duties.
