Rebecca (Becky) Maks, 76 of Cottage Grove passed away Jan. 29, 2014.
She was born March 6, 1937, in Texarkana, Texas to Thomas and Jeanie Mae (Gilley) Braswell.
On Jan. 21, 1978 in Roseburg, Ore., she and David Lloyd Maks were married.
She earned a Bachelorís Degree and was an Elementary School Teacher in Drain, Ore. from 1959 to 1964 and in Roseburg, Ore. from 1964 to 1977. Then in Tacoma, Wash. she ran a child daycare business before retiring to Cottage Grove.
Becky loved her husband and family and created a beautiful loving home in the country. She planted and nurtured hundreds of plants, flowers, shrubs, vegetables, berries and fruit trees. It was a peaceful haven to all who came to visit. She was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy and the Daughters of the Republic.
Survivors include four step-daughters; Kathleen (Mike) Stone, Sue Maks, Christin Maks and Shannon (Onur) Maks-Haskan, two stepsons; Steve (Claudia) Maks and David (Mercedes) Maks, Jr.; two sisters, Mary Lambert of Temple, Texas, and Juanita Woolley of Eugene, two brothers, Alfred Braswell of Texarkana, Ark. and David Braswell of New Brockton, Ala., and numerous grandchildren.
Becky was preceded in death by a stepson, Joseph Maks, and two brothers, Gene and Neil Braswell.
A memorial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at OLPH Catholic Church in Cottage Grove. Private interment at Willamette National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Peace Health Sacred Heart Hospice. Arrangements by Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove.
