Elks' USO show a big hit

Saturday night was the last time for Terie Bruley to produce a “USO Show” for vets and their families in Cottage Grove. There were mixed feeling for Bruley, who will soon be moving to Texas, but she was very happy to see a record turnout for the annual production at the Elks Lodge.

“This year it was a lot larger,” said Bruley. “We served 172 dinners.”

Along with the meals served, which were free for all vets, Bruley lined up entertainment for the audience in the spirit of the USO.

United Service Organizations (USO) has provided programs, services and live entertainment for US troops and their families since 1941 in partnership with the Department of Defense. Bruley was not in the Armed Services but has had a soft spot for military men and women.
