There is probably not a more appropriate place to bring more recognition to the plight of the homeless in Cottage Grove than Kennedy High School. According to Lorinda Wolfard of Looking Glass, and Brandi Baker-Rudicel of Parent Partnership, about 40 percent of the students at Kennedy are dealing personally with homelessness.

In conjunction with November being National Homeless and Runaway Youth Awareness Month, the students at Kennedy High School recently expressed what homelessness means to them with drawings, which were displayed at the school.

“It’s pretty cool,” said 19-year old Kimberlyn Hoffman, a youth worker with Looking Glass. “I’m happy everyone participated … they all contributed a piece of art which makes me happy.”
