An enthusiastic raised hand by Chamber of Commerce director has Travis Palmer has resulted in an elite status for Cottage Grove among Oregon cities. Cottage Grove has been selected to serve as a pilot community for a new state venture called the Bike Friendly Business Program. They were also chosen to host a gathering of bike proponents from all over the state. The meeting took place on Oct. 22 at the Cottage Grove Community Center.

The first annual meeting of the “Oregon Scenic Bikeways” was held in Salem last year, and at that meeting the group decided that it would be good to have the annual meeting rotate to a different community that has a bikeway every year.

“I was one of the first to raise my hand, and we were picked to be able to host the first one,” said Palmer. “This is the first time that this meeting has gone on location, so to speak. It was a really good showcase of our town and our bikeway.”
