Bohemia Mining Days taps Wentz as new festival coordinator

Posted: Wednesday, Oct 30th, 2013

Lou Wentz

The newest coordinator of Cottage Grove’s popular Bohemia Mining Days Festival is getting to know the position and a little more about the community this week.

Lou Wentz, formerly of Reading, Penn., assumed the festival’s coordinator role Nov. 1 after his hiring at the BMD board’s Oct. 24 meeting. He succeeds Heather Campbell to the position. Campbell served as festival coordinator in 2013 before moving on to become the executive director of Materials Exchange for the Community Arts (MECCA) in Eugene, which works to divert usable materials out of the waste stream and into the creative endeavors of the community.

Last week, BMD Board President Jake Boone stated that Campbell had been “100 percent awesome” in her time with the Festival. Of Wentz, Boone stated that the Board had found “exactly the sort of person we’re looking for” to coordinate BMD.

“He has prior festival experience and is a very reasonable sort of guy,” Boone said. “We have no doubt he’ll be fantastic at this.”
