John W. Schickling, 37, of Creswell passed away Oct. 9, 2013.
He was born Feb. 8, 1976 in Springfield to John and Cynthia (Patten) Schickling.
John completed the GED program through Job Corps. He did home remodeling, concrete work, built fences, construction and worked for railroads in Oklahoma and Texas loading and unloading railroad ties.
He enjoyed spending time with his children and fishing, hunting, camping and four-wheeling. He really loved his family and always tried to be a good person.
He married Jennifer Lyn Schickling-Burgess. They later divorced. His partner for the past 1 1/2 years was Christina Maxwell.
Survivors include his mother and husband, Cindy Demanett and husband, Sam, his father, John Wayne Schickling, grandparents Elsie Sanders and Bob and Betty McBee, two sons, Zachary Chapman of Springfield and John Wesley Schickling of Austin, Tex., a daughter, Kylee Schickling of Creswell, a sister, Jennifer Schickling of Creswell, and a brother, Robert Cooper “BJ” of Cottage Grove.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. at Creswell Church of Nazarene. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation. Arrangements under the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove.
