Rough and tough soccer ends in goose eggs

After 80 minutes of play plus overtime, the numbers on the scoreboard at Herald White Stadium remained the same as when the game began: 0-0. The last time Junction City and Cottage Grove faced off in the daylight at Junction City, the game also ended up in a tie. However, each team scored two goals. The first meeting was a very competitive one with lots of contact, and the same was true on Tuesday (Oct. 8).

“We tend to not play as physical at times until they bring it on, and then when it turned physical, we were as physical as they were,” said CGHS head coach Vern Stewart. “Their coach said a lot of their players were sore the next day, and so were we.”
