Cottage Grove cross country Coach Jim Settelmeyer said his runners made the best of opportunities presented in meets at LaPine on Wednesday and outside of Brooks on Saturday despite long travel distances.

Settelmeyer said everyone who ran in the races set at least season-best times for the two distances covered.

LaPine hosted a late-season two-mile event Tuesday, a big change from the 3.1 mile competitions of the previous eight races. George Fox College also hosted a huge 5-K competition in Willamette Mission State Park that featured a one-mile loop that was repeated three times and resulted in many fast times.

According to Settelmeyer, 10 of the 12 runners Saturday set all-time personal records for the 5-K distance, including Bryce Cothran, Kendrick Murphy, Adam Najera, Anthony Trujillo, Maeve Dahlen, Kale`a Galbreath, Allie Harris, Jessica Ray and Breanna Wright. Jarett Raade and Kade McConnell pulled off season-best times.
