Kermitt A. Kivett, 81, of Cottage Grove passed away from Parkinsonís Disease and cancer.
He was born Dec. 27, 1931 in Eugene to Clayton and Birdie (Lamb) Kivett
Kermitt graduated from Springfield High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On April 15, 1956 in Cottage Grove, he and Arlene Lebow were married. She passed away on May 8, 2007.
Kermitt worked as a telephone repairman and installer for Pacific Northwest Bell for more than 40 years.
He loved working outside, raising cattle and mowing his lawn on his ranch. He took pride in making his property look really nice. He enjoyed being at home with his family. He was a member of First Church of Nazarene.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Wolfard and husband Dennis of Harrisburg, Barbara Shields and husband Michael of Antioch, Calif., and Valerie Lamb and husband Chris of Springfield, two sons, Stuart Kivett and wife Julia of Beaverton and Kyle Kivett and wife, Wendy of Salem, a sister, Lois Comstock of Yuma, Arizona and a brother, Kenneth Kivett of Coburg, 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Steven Kivett and a sister, Cleta Shannon.
A memorial will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m. at First Church of Nazarene in Eugene. Inurnment will be at Sunset Hills in Eugene. Memorial contributions may be made to Cascade Hospice, 2650 Suzanne Way, Ste. 200, Eugene, OR 97408. Arrangements under the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove.
