Lone goat no longer alone

Posted: Wednesday, Sep 18th, 2013

The quarry at Cougar Mountain again boasts three goat residents after a customer of Portable Rock Production provided two companions for a female goat who until recently wandered the quarry by herself.

For over half the year there was only one goat patrolling the steep rock quarry eight miles north of Cottage Grove. That one white female goat has in the past couple of weeks been joined by two female companions. One of the goats is black and white while the other is all white.

“One of our customers from Cottage Grove showed up and brought two goats,” said Louie Knutson, who works for Portable Rock Production.

The three goats have appeared to quickly become acquainted with each other and can frequently be seen by travelers headed north on I-5.
