Rated No. 32 for
advancing 'green goals'
On Wednesday, May 29 Cottage Grove’s Family Relief Nursery was honored as one of the ‘100 Best Green Companies To Work For’ in Oregon. This year they ranked No. 32, up from No. 58 in 2011 when they were first ranked.
More than 18,300 employees from 440 companies completed a survey in “Oregon Business” magazine’s fifth annual Best Green Companies competition, rating the green mission and goals of the organization, recycling and waste reduction, support for public transport, energy and water conservation, and an emphasis on buying local products and services.
“You are the greenest of the green,” said Geoff Norcross, Host of OPB’s Morning Edition in his welcome address to a crowd of 300 gathered in Portland. “And we’re in Oregon so that says a lot!”
Social service nonprofits were pitted against coffee roasters, law firms, breweries, real estate agencies, schools, water districts and numerous organizations specializing in LEED certification, green consulting and clean energy. But what all those who ranked have in common is “exemplary workplaces that inspire and empower workers with a daily and enduring commitment to sustainable practices,” according to the June issue of Oregon Business, where all 100 companies are listed by rank.
