Posted: Tuesday, Apr 30th, 2013

With the district track meet just two weeks away (Thursday, May 16), the Lion boys strutted their depth and the CG girls displayed their talent last week with both teams beating La Pine, Sweet Home and Junction City in a four-way meet. Elmira and Sisters will be the other two Sky-Em League teams competing at Wally Ciochetti track beginning May 16 and ending on Saturday, May 18.

Juniors Ahsha Mootz and Destiny Dawson as well as senior Tricia Ingraham all won two events for the Lions. Mootz won the 100 and 200 meter races, while Dawson won the long jump and javelin and took second in the triple jump.

Other first places were earned by freshman Breanna Wright in the 1500 and Katy Bass in the high jump.

For Ingraham it was a PR week. Ingraham set a new personal record in the discus with a fling of 117-feet, 2-inches, and on Saturday she competed at the Centennial Relays in Gresham and heaved the shot put 38-feet, 11-inches.

Senior Kristine Dunn saw limited action at the Cottage Grove meet, but she did run the 800 at the Centennial Relays. In her second attempt at the 800 she improved to 2:16.32. That time is second-best in the 4A ranks and seventh overall among Oregon high school girls. Dunnís 400 time of 56.92 is still the tops in the state in any classification. Ingrahamís shot put mark is currently fourth-best in the state 4A ranks.
