Delmer H. Myers, 87, of Cottage Grove passed away April 4, 2013.
He was born March 18, 1926, in Cottage Grove to Henry D. and Lorena C. (Moade) Myers. He went to school through the eighth grade and then joined the US Marine Corps. Myers was a Corporal during WWII, serving in the occupation of Japan and Iwo Jima. He worked as a logger for Weyerhauser and other companies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and he enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his children.
Myers was a life member of the Cottage Grove VFW. He married Jane A. Davidson, Sept. 14, 1947, in Cottage Grove.
He is survived by his spouse, Jane A. Myers of Cottage Grove, daughter Nita A. Myers of Springfield, daughter Kay L. Tucker of Cottage Grove, son Tom L. Myers of Drain, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-granchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Son, ArIon R. Myers, and grandson Gary W. Myers.
A memorial service was held April 7 at the Cottage Grove Masonic Center. Burial followed on April 8 at the Silk Creek Cemetery, Cottage Grove. Service arrangements by SmithLund-Mills Funeral Chapel, 123 S. 7th St., Cottage Grove, OR 97424.
