Robert “Bob” Charles Saltsgaver, 91, of Cottage Grove died March 11, 2013 of age related causes.
Bob was born Jan. 1, 1922 in Cottage Grove to Charles and Annetta (Lee) Saltsgaver.
He graduated from high school and attended one year of telegraphy school.
On Oct. 10, 1944 in Eugene, he and Lenora Evalou Phillips were married.
Bob worked for two years with Louisville and Nashville Railroad and 35 years with Southern Pacific Railroad. He enjoyed farming, logging, fishing and hunting and was a member of the General Assembly Church of the Firstborn.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Lee and Eleanor Saltsgaver of Cottage Grove, a daughter-in-law, Betty Brown of Vancouver, Wash., a brother, Ross A. Saltsgaver of Cottage Grove, eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a stepson, John I. Brown.
Visitation was held March 14 and a funeral was held March 15 at Smith Lund Mills Funeral Chapel with burial following at Fir Grove Cemetery in Cottage Grove.
