Pauline Wilberta Payne, 87, of Cottage Grove passed away peacefully surrounded by her family into God’s loving arms on Feb. 26, 2013, of age related causes.
She was born April 6, 1925, in Cottage Grove, OR to Francis “Frank” Maxmillan and Charlotte Luella (Vanderburgh) Willis. Pauline married James E. Payne on May 29, 1942, in Eugene, Ore. and they were married for 68 years. Pauline earned an AA Degree in General Arts and a Dental Assistant Certification from Lane Community College. She was a piano and guitar instructor, a life-long homemaker, she served on various committees, taught Sunday School and BYF at First Baptist Church. She greatly loved and enjoyed her family, traveling, reading, music, gardening and was a member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Ed Payne of Bend, Ore., daughter Charlotte Payne (Jerry Turnbaugh) of Pasco, Wash., daughter Valerie (Roger) Heegard of Cottage Grove, sisters Orpha Hales and Barbara Watson, both of Cottage Grove, Ore., three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Payne, who died in November, 2010, and her Son, Kenneth Payne, in November 2000.
A celebration of life will be held on March 16, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Cottage Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kenneth E.
