At its Monday, Feb. 25 meeting, the Cottage Grove City Council voted to grant permission to transmit electricity to Dorena Hydro, LLC, the company currently working to retrofit Dorena Dam to produce hydroelectric power.
On Thursday, Cottage Grove City Manager Richard Meyers told the Sentinel that the company will begin installing a power line underground from the Mosby Creek Trailhead to the Village Green power substation on March 1. The line will be placed under the Row River Trail and, as such, the public should expect most of the trail to be closed until at least April 1. The trail will be resurfaced after the line is installed.
Meyers said Dorena Hydro will work to install the entirety of the line from Dorena Dam to Thornton Road during this time, and as such the majority of the Row River Trail, with the exception of the portion located between Trailhead Park and Thornton Road, will likely be closed for the next month.
