Ardelle Petersen 1927-2013

Ardelle Petersen, 85, of Yoncalla died Jan. 6, 2013 from age related causes.

She was born May 26, 1927 in Minot, N.D. to Alfred and Hilda (Hauglie) Anderson.

Ardelle graduated from White Earth High School in North Dakota in 1927 and attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minn. in 1946 and Southern California Bible College in Costa Mesa, Calif. in 1951. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Arts and Music from California State College, Stanislaus in 1983.

On Nov. 19, 1952 in Turlock, Calif., she married Fredolf Sondeno who passed away on Sept. 2, 1995. She then married Harry Petersen on May 16, 1998 in Modesto, Calif.

Ardelle served the Assembly of God Church as a missionary in Okinawa, Japan.

Ardelle was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed cooking, baking, travel, reading, hostessing, singing, playing guitar, organ, and accordion, and being a seamstress and homemaker.

She formerly had lived in White Earth, N.D., Dade City, Fla., Costa Mesa, Turlock, Modesto and Oakland, Calif., and Tokyo, Ishikawa, and Okinawa, Japan.

Survivors include her husband, a daughter, Claire Vian and husband, Jim, of Yoncalla, a son, Kenton Sondeno and wife, Lani, of Modesto, Calif., a sister, Lillian Gentry of Brentwood, Tenn., a brother, Duane Anderson and wife, Lill, of Dade City, Fla., three brothers-in-law and their wives, Joe and Shirley Sondeno of Santa Maria, Calif., Phil and Patty Sondeno of Medford, and David and Jackie Sondeno of Turlock, Calif., a sister-in-law and husband, Esther and David Sargis of Turlock, Calif., four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Church, 2361 Scenic Dr., Modesto, Calif., with inurnment to be held later at Turlock Memorial Park, Turlock, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to Campus Crusade for Christ, Universal.

Arrangements under the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, Cottage Grove.
