Theo Delbert Cartwright, 96, of Cottage Grove passed away Jan. 5, 2013 from age related causes.
He was born Sept. 17, 1916 in Wheaton, Missouri to Houston and Margaret (Bailey) Cartwright.
At the age of 3 1/2 the family moved to Los Angeles. Theo served in the Air Force from 1947 to 1952 as an Aircraft and Engine Mechanic and Maintenance Supervisor, receiving the Korean Silver Medal with one Silver Star. Mr. Cartwright drove a taxi cab in San Diego for many years.
He was well educated in the Constitution of the U.S. and was a firm believer that America should follow it.
Theo lived in Cottage Grove for 23 years after retiring. He was a faithful volunteer at the Humane Society of Cottage Grove’s “This ‘n That Corner” for several years. Theo took in many homeless cats and gave them a loving home to live in.
In August of 2012, Theo moved into the Pendleton Cottage Foster Home, where he was treated like a family member by everyone.
Theo was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Blanche, and brother, Austin.
No services are planned. Burial will be in San Diego’s Glen Abbey Memorial Park. Donations in Theo’s memory may be made to the Humane Society of Cottage Grove, PO Box 61, Cottage Grove, OR 97424.
