Mabel “Jackie” Fields Cannon, 98, of Cottage Grove died Dec. 14, 2012 from age related causes.
She was born Dec. 25, 1913 in Scotland, Ark. to Cornelious and Aney (Stroud) Fields.
She graduated from high school.
In 1970 in Eugene, Ore., she and Roscoe Christian Cannon were married.
Jackie found her calling with the Christian Travel Center where she traveled to Mexico and the Philippines to help the less fortunate. She won an award from the Christian Travel Center for her unselfishness.
She loved to garden, crochet and had a collection of over 500 angels. Jackie was a member of the Church of Christ and the Christian Travel Center.
Along with Scotland, Arkansas, she had also formerly lived in Jerusalem, Arkansas.
Survivors include three daughters, Norma Dale Ramsey of Phoenix, Ariz., Betty Carolyn Bradshaw of Cottage Grove, and Jackie Dean Ormsbee of Springfield, Ore., a son, Randolph Wilson Reynolds of Cottage Grove, a brother, Thompson Price Fields of Cottage Grove, 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 9, 1988 and by a daughter, Ruth Jean Reynolds, two sisters, Leonia Blue and Ruth F. Hurst, a grandson, David W. Allen, and a great-great grandson, Jordan E. Porter.
A funeral was held Dec. 21 at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel with burial following at Fir Grove Cemetery.
