Donovan (Don) Elsworth Martin passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Dec. 14, 2012.
Don was born April 23, 1920 to Dean and Pansy Martin in La Habra, Calif.
He was raised and educated in Fallbrook, Calif. After graduation he worked at Camp Pendleton and was drafted into the U.S. Army shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He spent three years in Germany during World War II.
After the war, he met and married his wife, Dorothy, on Aug. 20, 1948. Shortly after getting married, Don and Dorothy moved to Cottage Grove where they raised their four children. Don worked for South Lane School District for 35 years. When he retired in1982, Don and two of his sons bought and operated the Triple M Ranch in the Keating Valley.
Don enjoyed hunting, woodworking and working on the ranch in Keating Valley. He was a member of the London Grange in Cottage Grove for well over 50 years, where he served as Master many times.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and brother-in-laws, two nieces and a nephew, and several aunts and uncles.
Don is survived by his wife, Dorothy, three sons and their spouses, Dana and Linda Martin, Thomas (Tom) and Michaeline Martin, and Keith (Tony) Martin and wife Mari Bottoms, a daughter, Teresa (Teri) and husband Jim Bobo III, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, a brother, Dode and wife Muggins Martin, and many nieces and nephews.
