Boys swamp under-manned North Bend

Posted: Tuesday, Dec 4th, 2012

The Cottage Grove girls' relay team of Eliana Ramirez, Molly Anderson, Amelia Phillips and Christ Willits competed well at the North Bend meet last Wednesday.

The final score in Wednesday’s first swimming meet for the CGHS boys was not even close as the Lions clobbered the North Bend 107-40. First-year Lions’ coach Tyson Pilling said the Bulldogs were missing six of their boys’ swimmers but didn’t know if they were their top performers. The boys will probably find out this Saturday when they travel to North Bend for the annual North Bend Invitational.

Nevertheless, the Lion boys did win nine of the events last Wednesday.

The following are the Lions who finished in the top three in each event:

200 Medley Relay: First place, 2:37.23 (Leczel, Garrison, Rudicel, and Castleman)

200 freestyle: First place, Brandon Hill 2:00.84, second 2:09.53 David Richards

133 IM: First place, Caleb Leczel 1:20.31, second Logan Nash 1:26.84

66 free: First place, Caine Castleman, 36.90, Camas Rucicel second in 36.97, Quentin Buckland third in 40.25.

100 butterfly: Sam Garrison, first in 1:01.66 and Rudicel third in 1:20.88.

100 free: First, Caine Castleman in 59. 13 seconds and Buckland third in 1:08.78.

500 free: second, Brandon Hill 5:39.25 and third, David Richards in 5:49.66.

266 freestyle relay won in time of 2:21.97.
