Ailments that often require a visit to the doctor can now be treated during the hours of a new walk-in clinic that opened Monday at Cottage Grove Community Hospital.
Last Thursday, Susan Easton, who will manage the Cottage Grove Clinic in addition to similar facilities in Creswell and Dexter, gave tours of the new facility here, which includes a large examination room in addition to three more exam rooms and one that will house basic procedures such as repairs for lacerations and mole removals. Easton said the design of the clinic is modeled after the regular clinic upstairs in the hospital building.
“The concept was to not turn anyone away,” Easton said. “We want people to get care when they need it so they can always feel like their needs are being met.”
The clinic is open to all, Easton said, not only those who have a primary care physician in Cottage Grove, though the facility doesn’t have contracts with two insurance companies whose patients would have to self-pay. She added that the facility will be conducting some ‘charity care’ for patients in dire need.
In addition to covering a wide variety of ailments, the clinic will also conduct tests for the Department of Motor Vehicles and sports physicals.
“It’s like a primary care clinic without appointments,” Easton said. “If someone walks in with an issue that’s out of our scope, we would walk them over to the emergency room.”
