The Cottage Grove Lions were hoping to make it to the elite eight and the second round of the 4A football playoffs but couldn’t stop a strong Baker Bulldog offense. The result was a hard-fought 55-42 loss at Baker City on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions were very much in the game throughout the first half. Baker took the kickoff and drove 82 yards and ate up half of the first quarter clock, culminated by a 36-yard touchdown run. Cottage Grove answered and took the lead after a four-play drive of 53 yards, with Brian Spindler’s seven-yard touchdown topping off the drive.
