Helen Keniston Carlisle, 86, of Eugene, formerly of Cottage Grove, died Jan. 24, 2010 from Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born May 27, 1923 in East Andover, N.H. to James and Maude (Severson) Keniston.
On May 20, 1939 in East Andover, she married Brayton Wilke Carlisle.
Helen was a head cook for Cottage Grove School District - Bohemia Grade School. She retired in 1981.
Helen was a long-time resident of Cottage Grove before moving to Eugene to be near family in 2005. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and her great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Dorena Grange and Neighborly Neighbors Sewing Club in Cottage Grove.
She is survived by a brother, James M. Keniston and wife, Dottie, of East Andover, N.H., three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 4, 2008, by two daughters, Mary (Carlisle) Roeder in 1987 and Jeannette (Carlisle) Cogburn in 1988, and by a grandson, Mark W. Cogburn, in 2000.
A memorial service was held Jan. 30 at Smith Lund Mills Funeral Chapel with a private inurnment at Fir Grove Cemetery in Cottage Grove.
