The Cottage Grove Hall of Fame committee will be meeting next week (Jan. 9) to select the next group of athletes to be inducted into the prestigious group on May 4 at the high school cafeteria. It will be the sixth CGHS Hall of Fame class since the inaugural one in 2008.
In the first class, 10 athletes were chosen plus two coaches, a team and a community contributor. For the last four years the number of athletes have been reduced to seven, and this year it was decided the athletes inducted would be trimmed to five. Athletes are eligible if they have been out of school for at least five years.
The committee has made its choices for a coach (Al Simpson), a team (1955 football) and a community contributor (Dr. Mike Thompson), but is still considering a total of 15 athletes for the five spots for the 2013 hall of fame induction. For the complete article see the 01-02-2013 issue.
