Ready or not, the CGHS basketball season begins in just a few days for both the boys and girls’ teams. The CG girls take on Churchill this Saturday and travel to North Bend on Tuesday, while the boys begin by hosting a tough North Bend team on Tuesday.
The Lion boys return four seniors: Jordan Yoss, a first team all-league guard, Brad Miller, a second team selection, as well as Jesse Fix and Tanner Gates. Those four starters return along with post player Garrison King. The Lions are not at full speed yet, because Miller suffered a concussion a month ago and has not been able to get in shape, while King is still recuperating from knee surgery.
Despite these obstacles, head coach Donn Pollard is very optimistic about his team.
“I think if we do the things we’re supposed to do and progress like we can, I think we can be pretty good and contend for the top spot in the league,” Pollard said. For the complete article see the 11-28-2012 issue.
