Roy Kenneth Bird, 81, of Cottage Grove passed away May 24, 2014.
He was born May 4, 1933 in Silverton, Ore. to Roy and Eleanor (Howard) Bird.
Roy graduated from Sheridan High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army.
On April 29, 1958 in Stevenson, Wash., he and AnnaJean Davidson were married.
In 1965, he moved his family to Cottage Grove to work for Big Leaf Timber as a Woods Boss. Roy finished his working years at Egge Sand and Gravel.
Roy will be well remembered as a logger, builder, electrician, plumber and all-around hard-working man who had the Utah Pioneer spirit. After his retirement he enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and taking care of his orchard that was so precious to him.
Survivors include his wife of Cottage Grove, two daughters, Kelly Ball and husband, Frank, of Redmond, Ore. and LeAnn Kite and husband, Kenny, of Stayton, Ore.; three sons, Kenneth Bird and wife, Toni, of Creswell, James Bird and wife, Joy, of Cottage Grove, and Mark Bird of San Francisco, Calif., a brother, Donald Bird of Sheridan, Ore., a sister, June Ledgerwood of Silverton, Ore., an aunt, Ruth Bergreen of St. George, Utah, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was May 29 with a funeral service on May 30 at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel. Burial is at Fir Grove Cemetery.
