Adrian Van Gorder, 76, of Cottage Grove passed away Aug. 7, 2013.
He was born June 30, 1937 in Parowan, Utah to Clayten and Fern (Jensen) Van Gorder.
He attended high school and was a jack-of-all-trades. He worked in highway construction in Hawaii, was a truck driver in the mining industry and managed trailer parks. He also worked for Union Pacific Railroad and owned his own gas station in Utah and CB Radio company in Hawaii.
He loved playing on the computer, picking mushrooms and visiting with family and friends. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
On Dec. 8, 1973 in Honolulu, Hawaii, he married Naomi Takahashi.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi Van Gorder of Cottage Grove, three daughters, Sherrie Van Gorder of Cottage Grove, Natalie Van Gorder of Spanish Fork, Utah and Diana of Washington, two sons, Adrian Van Gorder, Jr. of Virginia and Myles Van Gorder of Fallon, Nev., a brother, Cornell Van Gorder, 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lester Van Gorder, a daughter, Debra Swain and ex-wife, Amelia.
A memorial will be held Thursday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cottage Grove.
