Evelyn “Evie” Lipe-Russell, 85, of Drain died Jan. 27, 2013 from age related causes.
She was born June 27, 1927 in Spearfish, S.D. to Harry and Ruth (Reese) Keeney.
She graduated from high school and worked as a CNA at Los Angeles County Prison Hospital in Loma Linda, Calif.
Evelyn and Oren Lipe were married for 45 years. He passed away. She and Edgar “Bud” Russell were married for 21 years.
Evelyn enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, collecting cookbooks, and attending church. She was a member of the Yoncalla Assembly of God.
Survivors include her husband, five daughters, Rebecca McDaniel of Boise, Idaho, Sue (Rick) Swetz of Lancaster, Calif., Debra (Mike) Fulp of Woodstock, Ga., Melinda (Kenny) Burrows of Palm Dale, Calif. and Mary (Doug) Laws of Eugene, a son, Nathan (Nancy) Lipe of Broken Arrow, Okla., stepdaughter, Gwen (Martin) Paletta, of Snohomish, Wash., two sisters, Thelma Orr of Drain and Annabelle Ferguson of Twin Falls, Idaho, 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Oren Lipe, in 1991, and by a grandson, Kelly Lipe, in 2007.
Visitation will be today, Jan. 30, from 4-6 p.m. at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel. A funeral will be Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel with burial at Drain City Cemetery.
