Sherry “Sue” Cox, 65, of Cottage Grove died Dec. 15, 2012 from ALS, Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
She was born June 12, 1947 in Eugene, Ore. to Dan and Olevia “Billie” (Farnsworth) Mitchel.
Sue worked for South Lane School District for 30 years as a school secretary. She was an outdoor school counselor for 25 years with Harrison Elementary, known as “Wildflower”.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, camping, hiking, waterfalls, shopping, movies, scrapbooking, photography, music and dancing. Her family was most important to her and she always enjoyed the beach and playing games with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, George Cox, a son, Greg McDonald of Cottage Grove, two daughters, Tonya Kerns of Cottage Grove and Becky Bergstrom of Eugene, two sisters, Diane Black of Curtin and La Donna Frieze of Drain, a brother, Rex Mitchel of Anchorage, Alaska, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
No service is planned.
