Virgil Royal Raymond, 70, of Sweet Home passed away Nov. 24, 2012.
He was born Nov. 5, 1942 in Cottage Grove to Ransom Royal and Bessie (Gertchie) Raymond.
Virgil spent his childhood in Florence then moved to the Sweet Home and Lebanon areas for the remainder of his life. He served in the Air Force between 1962 and 1964 and was stationed in Alaska during the Vietnam war.
Virgil was a millwright and worked as a manager for many years at Woodex International in Brownsville.
He loved his dog Macie. Virgil enjoyed watching deer and wildlife, fishing, camping and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandra McCardy of Lebanon, Michelle Raymond of Albany, and Valerie Wolfe of Sweet Home; son, Brian Raymond of Troutdale; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and dog, Macie. Virgil was preceded in death by sons, Gary Raymond and Ron Raymond; his parents; brother, Clarice Raymond; and many other brothers and sisters.
Graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Nov. 30 at Gilliland Cemetery. Celebration of Life followed at Sweet Home VFW.
