Muriel E. Ricker, 99, of Cottage Grove, died Sept. 29, 2012 of age related causes.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Corning, Calif.
She was born Oct. 6, 1913 in San Francisco, Calif. to Jesse and Adellma (Bruce) Silver.
She married Howard Blanchard Ricker in June of 1935 in Reno, Nevada. He died in February of 1977.
She graduated high school in Alameda, Calif. Muriel was an olive packer at Maywood Packing Company in Corning, Calif. for 30 years. She also was a "Rosie the Riveter", working at the Kaiser Ship Yards in Alameda during WWII. While in her eighties, she taught reading to second graders with the Grandparents Program in Redding, Calif.
Survivors include two daughters, Christine Johnson of Cottage Grove and Elaine Hickman of Weippe, Idaho; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Darrell Ricker in 1970 in Vietnam and Greg Ricker on May 29, 2012 in Corning, Calif. She was also predeceased by her great granddaughter, Julie Kaytlynn Ricker.
