Robert "Bob" Vincen Strickland, 85, of Cottage Grove died Sept. 28, 2012 from congestive heart failure.
He was born Oct. 28, 1926 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas to John Thomas and Anna Verene (Springer) Strickland.
Bob attended Oregon State University for a short time and served in the U.S. Navy as a Yeoman Third Class aboard the USS Alioth.
On Aug. 30, 1946 in Corvallis, Oregon, he and Ula Jean Priefert were married.
Mr. Strickland worked as Head Sawyer and Relief Man for Bohemia Lumber.
He enjoyed his family, woodworking, hunting, fishing, gardening and flowers, and old cars. He was a member of Riverside Community Church of God in Cottage Grove and of the VFW.
He formerly had lived in Wendell, Idaho, Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Corvallis, Oregon, Fortuna, California and Riddle, Oregon.
He is survived by his wife, Ula, three daughters and their husbands, Connie and Sam Braaten of Corvallis, Debi and Larry Stagg of Newberg and Tami and Jim Eckstine of Dorena, a brother, Dale Strickland and wife, LaVone, of Castle Rock, Wash., a sister, Norma Ritz and husband, Darrell, of Newport, Wash., 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Bobby Jean.
A memorial will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m. at Riverside Community Church of God in Cottage Grove.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Riverside Community Church of God in Cottage Grove.
