Charles “Ebb” Elbert Cook, 83, of Springfield, Oregon died Sept. 17, 2012 from age related causes.
He was born May 18, 1929 in Grandview, N.C. to Samuel and Anna Belle (Davis) Cook.
He married Mona Lee Taylor. They later divorced. On Feb. 1, 1986 in Curtin, Oregon, he and Peggy J. Ledford were married.
Mr. Cook worked in the timber industry and owned and operated his own logging business.
Ebb loved spending time in the woods, hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Drain.
He formerly had lived in Cottage Grove, Curtin and Brasstown, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, seven sons, Cliff Cook and Michael Place, both of Cottage Grove, and Freddy Cook, Eddie Cook, Donnie Cook, Randy Cook and Ronnie Cook, all of North Carolina, nine daughters, Christine Taylor, Brenda Cook, Teresa Laney, and Ramona Brown, all of North Carolina, Carmel Coker of Tennessee, Judy Cook and Genice Cook of Cottage Grove, Juanita Bumgarner of Montana and Michelle Plantz of Springfield, four brothers, Albert Cook of Cottage Grove, Francis Cook, Bill Cook and Arvil Cook of Murphy, N.C., two sisters, Helen Hogsed and Alma Ritz of Murphy, N.C., 38 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Place, and a grandson, Brian Cook.
Visitation was held Sept. 19 at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel. A funeral and potluck were held Sept. 20 at the Family Praise Center in Cottage Grove with burial following at Comstock Cemetery in Curtin.
