Stanley "Stan" Bryce Cates, Sr., 51, of Cottage Grove died Feb. 20, 2010 from liver disease.

He was born Jan. 24, 1959 in Brigham City, Utah to Donald and Shirley (Kilpatrick) Cates. He also lived in Boise, Idaho and Anchorage, Alaska.

On May 14, 1983 in Anchorage, Alaska, he married Kristina Krumlauf.

Stan worked as an owner/operator in the trucking industry.

He enjoyed camping, fiddle fartin' in the yard, and traveling. He had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Tina Cates of Cottage Grove, grandparents, Donald and Shirley Cates of Boise, Idaho, daughter, Melissa Rodarte of Anchorage, Alaska, two sons, Stanley Cates, Jr. and Kristopher Cates, both of Cottage Grove, three brothers, Blair W. Wannamaker of Boise, Idaho, Ross Cates of Birmingham, Ala., and Donald Cates, Jr. of Texas, four sisters, Brenda Watson of Homedale, Idaho, Karla Shields of Renton, Wash., Teresa Web of Springfield, Ore. and Dawn Bradley of Boise, Idaho, three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Feb. 26 at Smith Lund Mills Funeral Chapel.
