Local residents and insurance agents are getting a first taste this week of Cover Oregon, the health insurance marketplace started by the State of Oregon in response to the health care mandate brought on by the Affordable Care Act.
The marketplace website, located at www.coveroregon.com, officially went live beginning this month, and a Wednesday, Oct. 2 press release indicated that 122,000 visits had been made by Oregonians on its first day. The site includes information about community partners and insurance agents who have recently undergone a six-month training to market the new Cover Oregon plans to the public, in addition to a calculator that can help visitors determine how much they may expect to pay for coverage and the types of tax credits or other benefits they could potentially expect.
