An encounter with a subject familiar to Cottage Grove Police led to a messy situation for one officer last week.
Officer David Burgin said CGPD has had numerous contacts with David Lilly, 39, of Cottage Grove. On Thursday afternoon at about 4:40 p.m., Burgin visited the Frontier Village trailer park off Highway 99 to serve Lilly, whom he called “a flight risk every time,” with an arrest warrant related to a previous incident of domestic violence. Lilly had successfully eluded police seeking to serve the same warrant a few days prior, Burgin said.
Upon arriving at the suspect’s trailer, which Burgin said is also very familiar to law enforcement, he said he observed a truck with an open door and a female associated with the suspect inside the trailer.
